In the heart of San Colombano Certenoli stands the Lascito Cuneo, an elegant eclectic-style building donated in 1905 by the Cuneo family to the municipality—a gesture that transformed a private residence into a shared civic heritage; today its walls preserve not only objects, but stories, affections, and fragments of daily life that reflect a community deeply rooted in work, culture, and memory.
The “Memory Room”: Family Heritage and Rare Treasures
Crossing the threshold, visitors enter the “Memory Room,” where furnishings, musical instruments, and books once belonging to the Cuneo family evoke an intimate and refined atmosphere; among the volumes stands a true bibliographic treasure: the rare 1571 Venetian edition of the life of Cristoforo Colombo written by his son Fernando Colombo, a remarkable link between this small Ligurian town and the vast horizons of world history.
Ancient Crafts: Workshops and Traditions
The museum path continues with the reconstruction of an old shoemaker’s workshop, complete with original tools and materials that speak of patient craftsmanship, and a third section reproducing a traditional local shop, where each object reflects gestures repeated over time and skills passed down through generations.
Rural Life in the Open Air
Outside, agricultural and winemaking machines and equipment complete the narrative, bringing to life the rural dimension that shaped the community for centuries, in a continuous dialogue between home, labor, and land that makes the Lascito Cuneo not just a museum, but an immersive journey into collective memory.
