The Molinello site, part of the Gambatesa Nuova concession, is located on the left bank of the Reppia stream. The area tells a long story of mining activity, evidenced by numerous tunnels, mining cavities, and open-pit excavations that still define the landscape today.
Beyond the mining remains, the site preserves elements of industrial archaeology, including compressed-air compressors and various other structures related to the miners’ work. These artifacts provide valuable material evidence of the extraction techniques used throughout the 20th century, offering a unique glimpse into the industrial history of the Reppia Valley.
Mining at Molinello ceased in 1995, marking the end of an era and the beginning of a period of study and preservation of the site. Today, the Molinello site represents a historical and cultural heritage to be safeguarded, symbolizing industrial ingenuity and the lives of local mining communities.
