Palazzo Ravenna

In the beating heart of Lavagna, where the streets tell ancient stories and the walls guard centuries-old secrets, Palazzo Ravenna stands majestically. This sumptuous building, dedicated to the scholar who illuminated Liguria’s past with his sharp pen, stands as a beacon of knowledge and culture in the city.

Origins and Transformations

The origins of Palazzo Ravenna date back to 1600, when it was built as a convent by the Discalced Carmelite friars. Over the centuries, the palace has seen its identity transform: from a spiritual refuge to the seat of the town hall. After appropriate modification works, the structure welcomed the civic institutions of Lavagna, acting as the fulcrum of the administrative life of the city.

Evolution over Time

The fate of the building continued to evolve over time. In 1931, with the transfer of the town hall to the modern Palazzo Franzoni in Piazza della Libertà, Palazzo Ravenna began a new chapter in its history. In more recent times, it has transformed into a place dedicated to the diffusion of knowledge and culture, becoming the headquarters of the “Giovanni Serbandini Bini” Civic Library.

Hidden Treasures

Within its walls, Palazzo Ravenna hides treasures ready to be discovered. Among these, the evocative “Sala Albino” stands out, a multifunctional hall that hosts cultural events and meetings. Furthermore, the engaging LudoBiblioteca “Libringioco” offers adults and children the opportunity to immerse themselves in fantastic worlds through reading and playing.

Historical Archive

We cannot forget the Historical Archive, a treasure chest of documents and testimonies that narrate the past events of Lavagna. This archive offers a fascinating journey through the centuries, allowing visitors to explore the history of the city and region.

Lighthouse of Knowledge and Culture

Thus, Palazzo Ravenna continues to shine in the cultural panorama of Lavagna, preserving the memory of the past and illuminating the path towards a future rich in knowledge and discovery. This building, with its history and its transformations, represents a symbol of continuity and rebirth, uniting past, present and future generations in an embrace of culture and knowledge.
