A Passage Between Stone Giants
Its name tells its story. Pietre Strette — literally “Narrow Stones” — owes its identity to a tight natural passage between massive conglomerate boulders rising from the forest floor like ancient guardians. Here the trail narrows, inviting walkers to slow their pace and lift their gaze toward these time-shaped rocks wrapped in woodland greenery. It is a place of quiet reflection, where nature has carved a corridor of stone in the heart of the mountain.
A Resting Place in the Breath of the Forest
Today, Pietre Strette also serves as a welcoming rest area. Tables, benches, and a small fountain offer refreshment to hikers exploring the Monte di Portofino trail network. After a climb, visitors pause in the shade, share a simple meal, refill their water bottles, and set off again. In this sheltered clearing, the journey becomes a shared experience made of encounters, stories, and moments of silence.
