A hilly ridge divides the municipalities of Lavagna and Sestri Levante, rising from the sea towards the hinterland until culminating in Monte Costello (498 m) and the highest Monte Capenardo. This ridge, wide and in some places almost flat, offers a fascinating route for nature and hiking lovers.
As you go up, the vegetation becomes increasingly dense. However, the trees allow for some clearing which allows you to enjoy wide views of the coastline below. At higher altitudes, the pine forest gradually gives way to a dense holm oak forest, immersing visitors in a rich and evocative woodland environment.
The top of Mount Costello, although not very clear, is characterized by wooded areas interspersed with large meadow clearings. In spring, these clearings are transformed into a true natural spectacle thanks to the flowering of wild orchids, creating an enchanting and colorful landscape.
